In the kids’ space at Mocca, a restaurant in the Nishi-Amuro community on Kakeroma Island, Kagoshima, I created a wooden play-art piece. When children roll a wooden ball from the top, it drops into hanging whale and turtle forms, then slides into different routes. The gentle sound of the ball rolling through wood became part of the artwork’s experience.
